Wellbeing On The Plot

Before you get stuck into digging, weeding, or watering — take a few quiet moments to stretch and soak in the morning sun on your plot. It’s a small act that can have a big impact on your wellbeing.

Stretching in natural light helps wake up the body, improves circulation, eases stiff joints, and boosts your mood — especially when you’re surrounded by the peace of the allotment.

Try these simple stretches next time you arrive:

Neck rolls – Gently roll your head side to side to ease tension

Reach for the sky – Arms overhead, stretch tall, then release slowly.

Shoulder circles – Roll them forwards and backwards to loosen up

Forward fold – Hinge at the hips and let your arms dangle (great for the lower back).

Side stretch – Stand tall and lean gently to each side to open up your ribs and waist.

Breathe deeply. Feel the earth under your feet. Let the sunshine and movement ground you before the day begins. Your body works hard on the plot — give it a soft start.
