Organic Gardening Catalogue - New Seeds for 2023

Two more envelopes of seeds yesterday, so let's look at what's come from The Organic Gardening Catalogue. There is more that I want to get from this company that is new for 2023, but at the moment the seeds are not in stock and can't be ordered yet.

700012 - Beetroot Rote Kugel 2 (Organic) 145 Average Seeds - £2.99

Beetroot ‘Rote Kugel 2’ is a high yielding, early maturing variety with good bolt resistance. Produces large, globe-shaped, well coloured beets which are potential show bench winners. The purple flushed leaves are delicious in salads.

Height: 300mm (12"). Spread: 150mm (6").

700013 - Celeriac Mars (Organic) Seeds 200 Average Seeds - £2.99

Celeriac 'Mars' (Organic) produces large, uniform roots from upright plants that hold themselves well in the soil, resulting in less rain splash and better resistance to celery leaf spot. This modern breed boasts creamy-white flesh that remains firm despite the large size of the roots. Ideal for making homemade coleslaw – simply grate and enjoy the crunchy texture and subtle celery-like taste. After harvesting its roots from October to November, celeriac ‘Mars’ stores well but can be left in the ground over winter if covered with a 150mm (6") layer of straw for protection.

Height: 300mm (12"). Spread: 400mm (16").

700015 - Basil Loki (Organic) 140 Average Seeds - £1.99

Armed with improved resistance to mildew, this new generation basil is the ultimate selection for organic growers. Downy mildew is a common problem with basil, and it can rapidly spread through neighbouring plants. Basil ‘Loki’ resists infection and has also been bred to adapt to our cooler UK climate, producing crops of bright green, healthy leaves throughout the summer.

Height and spread: 300mm (12").

780105 - Chinese Cabbage Atsuko Seeds 45 Seeds - £1.99

Chinese cabbage 'Atsuko' is a fast-growing variety producing firm, barrel-shaped pale green heads weighing 1-2kg. The leaves are sweet with a full and intense flavour. Ready to harvest in 90-95 days.
